how it started

Cashew business was started by the Kamaths at the turn of the 20th century. K Subraya Kamath (in pic) was the founder of this business. Though it did not fare well during those days it was just the beginning of a long journey.

K Vishwanath Kamath son of Subraya started his foray in 1937 with modest quantity of two bags of raw cashew nuts. It was not until the 1950 that he ventured into the first steps of processing. With two buildings and crude methods of processing ,he went on to start a factory in 1965 in the sleepy town of Kasaragod. From that time it has not looked back.

Founded in the year 1945 the firm K. Subraya Anantha Kamath and Sons was the first of the ventures by K Viswanath Kamath and K Upendra Kamath, sons of Subraya Kamath.

Carrying on the family tradition both the pioneers drew from their ancestral resources of experience and setup the first factory in the small town of Kasaragod, Kerala. Soon with the help of his brother Upendra Kamath and their sons the factories spread to Jalsoor, Mangalore and Puttur.

Today the K Subraya Anantha Kamath and Sons boast of employing more than 1000 workers and doing business all over the world.

Carrying the family mantle the third and fourth generation in the family who control the reins are already promising the world their share of fine cashew nuts.
